DMA: Mobile locker access for Smart Buildings and flexible workspaces

DMA for Lockers

Imagine arriving at the office, after a few days of teleworking, and realising that you have forgotten your access card or your lock for your locker, or even worse, you have lost the key or the card. These situations are more common than we think, and they cause unnecessary inconvenience. Now, thanks to DORLET's innovation, it is possible to open the Smart Building's lockers with a virtual credential, DMA (DORLET Mobile Access), which not only allows you to access the building's lockers without the need for cards or padlocks, but also to move around the space comfortably and safely.

How does DMA work for lockers?

DMA (DORLET Mobile Access) is a digital credential that operates on both Android and iOS, allowing users to manage their access to lockers quickly and securely. Through the DORLET® mobile app, each user obtains a unique credential that allows them to open lockers compatible with this technology (DOR Pulse), eliminating the need for keys, padlocks or RFID cards.

This system uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and NFC (Near Field of Communication) communication, which ensures a secure and efficient connection. The operation is similar on Android and iOS, and varies depending on whether the locker is freely assignable (and therefore open) or if it has an assigned locker. In the first case, if it is an Android device, it will be enough to bring the smartphone equipped with DMA and press the bolt (visible part of the locker mechanism) to close it. If the user has an iPhone, he/she will have to press the button located in the lower right corner of DMA and then bring the smartphone closer and press the bolt. To unlock the locker, both on Android and iOS, the process described above must be repeated.

If it is an assigned locker, it will only be opened or closed on presentation of the corresponding DMA. It should be noted that the operation of the locker will vary slightly depending on whether it is an Android or iOS device.

What are the benefits of this technology for companies and Smart Buildings?

Mobile access to lockers with DMA provides multiple advantages for flexible workspaces, where there is some staff turnover between face-to-face, remote and hybrid working modes.

The use of the DORLET® virtual badge greatly increases security by reducing the risk of loss or theft of physical cards. It also increases traceability, as each access, or each access attempt, is recorded. Finally, permissions can be revoked or modified in real time from DASSnet®, the management software of DORLET®.

In addition, users gain in convenience and efficiency, as the need to carry additional keys or cards is eliminated. In addition, this system can be integrated with other access control systems within the building, such as readers, handles and/or access cylinders; this allows workers to move freely around the facility (provided they have permissions) just by using their smartphone.

Which sectors can benefit from this functionality?

This solution is particularly useful for sectors where mobility and security are a priority, including critical infrastructures where security is vital. Corporate offices with hybrid employees, hospitals and healthcare centres, banks, universities and educational establishments or gyms and sports complexes, among others. In short, they can all benefit from an efficient and convenient system that enhances the user experience while meeting high security standards.
